In 1985, two Nanguan musicians, Mr. Wu Kun-ren and Ms. Jiang Yue-yun, founded the Taipei Hua-sheng Nanguan Music Club which has blossomed beautifully under their leadership. The two founders’ Nanguan music derives from the artistic style of the Xiamen School. Their authentic chants serve as the paradigms of modern Nanguan music. For the 25th anniversary of the Taipei Hua-sheng Nanguan Music Club in 2010, the fifth anniversary of Mr. Wu Kun-ren’s death, and the anniversary of Ms. Jiang Yue-yun’s death, the members published the collected recordings of the two masters in recognition of their contributions to Nanguan music. Presently, the club is being managed by their disciples, with Professor Lin Po-ji in charge of teaching the music and keeping it alive. The club also holds exhibitions and performances to extend the culture of Nanguang art in Taiwan.
