Soon after Sui Emperor Yang ascends the throne, Wu Jian-zhang, the imperial tutor, berates him in the court, resulting in the execution of his whole family. Yu-wen Hua, fearing that Wu Yun-zhao, Son of Kong Wu and Lord of Nanyang, are plotting a rebellion, secretly decides to kill the family. He then names Han Qin-hu, an old general, as the commander to launch the attack against Nanyan and his son Yu-wen Cheng as Heaven's Treasure Invincible General who supervises the troops. Han Qin-hu, however, secretly assists Wu Yun-zhao and sends Yu-wen Cheng to supervise the delivery of military supplies. The Suei troops are soon defeated.
