The playwright/director Wang You-hui produced this play based on the narrative of a Taiwanese song of the same title. With the performance elements of Taiwanese opera combined with modern theatrical devices, he constructed an aspect of the vicissitudes of Taiwanese opera and a romance between two generations. The play was nominated for the Ten Best Performance Arts of Taishin Arts Award.

The plot narrates the story of a young Anping woman Jin Yu-mei, who fell in love with a Dutch marine doctor, Daly, and was subsequently driven out of An-Ping by her family who was against cross-cultural marriage. After giving birth to her daughter Si-ho, Yu-mei passed away from unrequited yearning. On the other hand, Yu-mei's older brother Yu-lu had a passion for theater. His father Master Jin expelled him from the family because theater was considered a shameful career. Two decades later, Yu-lu accidentally met Si-ho who was running away from home; he took her home and treated her as his own daughter. In addition, Yu-lu trained Si-ho to become a dan actress. Si-ho fell in love with one of her fans, a young Master Lin from a rich family. The Lin family despised the people in the troupe. In order to break up the couple, they approved of his plan to sail abroad. When Daly came to Taiwan to look for his daughter, Si-ho took only one look at him and decided to stay with her uncle Yu-lu and accompany him to the last.

The leading actresses Zhang Xiu-qin and Zhuang Jin-mei alternate between singing old tunes and new songs. Both had displayed impressive singing in the play.
