In Beheading Hua Xiung and Fighting against Lu Bu, Yuan Shao gathers his vassals to discuss how to do battle against Hua Xiung. Seeing that Liu Bei, Guan Yun-chang, and Zhang Fei successfully defeated the Yellow Scarf Bandits, Cao Cao recommends that the three of them fight. Hua Xiung launches the attack. Guan Yu asks to lead the army on to battle. While Cao Cao is preparing the drink and warming the cups, Guan Yu has already won the victory and comes back with the head of Hua Xiung. Dong Zhuo, who lost his general, leads the troops to camp at Hu-lao Pass. Meanwhile, Lu Bu alone fights against a strong force with his lance and kills many of the enemy. Liu, Guan, and Zhang join forces to fight against Lu Bu. When Dong Zhuo sees that Lu Bu is retreating out of exhaustion, he takes Li Ru's suggestion to send the army to Loyang to burn the Golden Gate. He moves the capital to Chang-an and tries to defend against his enemies there.
