In December 1941, the Pacific War broke out. Back then Taiwan was still under Japanese Rule. Hundreds of Taiwanese were drafted into the war. When the war ended, many of these Taiwanese soldiers were tried as war criminals and faced imprisonment or even the death penalty. Heat Sun records the lives and identity crises of the remaining soldiers, long neglected and forsaken by post-war society, and now struggling for day-to-day survival. They dare not look back on their wartime experiences, describing them as the darkest memories from their lives. Through interviews and archive images, the film poignantly delves into the issues surrounding humanity and war.
