Tuvalu is expected to be the first victim of the rising sea levels associated with climate change. Formerly known as the Ellice Islands, Tuvalu is a Polynesian island nation located in the southern Pacific Ocean, and one of the few remaining diplomatic allies of Taiwan. Its territory consists of only 26 square kilometers, which is expected to be submerged under the ocean within 50 years as a result of global warming. The director, HUANG Hsin-Yao, visited this island after his homeland, Taiwan, had been severely ravaged by Typhoon Morakot in 2009. Narrated in a light-hearted tone, this documentary poignantly examines the current situation in Tuvalu and draws parallels with the ecological situation facing Taiwan.
