A group of socially deviant teenagers live at the Faith Hope Love Academy, a foster-care facility in Hualien, eastern Taiwan. Many of these “nowhere boys” have tragically lost their parents or been abandoned by their families. To mend these broken and restless souls and help them weather the trials and confusion of adolescence, Reverend HUANG, juvenile detention officer LU Su-Wei, and the teachers of the Academy, risk their jobs to take the boys on a healing journey. In the summer of 2006, more than 30 of these kids set off for a 20-day around-the-island tour on unicycles. While enduring strenuous physical struggles on the road, they also come to terms with the predicaments in their lives, and start to accept the love and affection of others around them.
