Shot on 16mm film, this documentary captures two years in the life of the director’s friend, Mamuno, a Tao, or Lanyu island tribesman. Through Mamuno’s experience of returning to his origins and the director’s examining of his own life, the film shows how the two people interact and their brotherly care for each other. Though coming from different backgrounds, they share the same passion towards the ocean. We hear from Mamuno about his experience as a Tao in the city, and also witness the director’s attempts to find the origins of his own life. Throughout the film, the inseparable relationship between men and nature is also beautifully observed.
