As always, A-hui came to Man-mei’s pub to play the Street Fighter video game choosing to play his regular Scorpio character Chun-li, who is burdened with the heavy responsibility of avenging his father’s death. But today, he thought of those girlfriends that claimed not to be able to understand him. He thought of CHENG Yi-ying in the third grade, and her charming, mischievous look during her “performance” of a suicide in the swimming pool. No one knew back then that she would actually commit suicide years later. So resolute, just like Chun-li’s revenge.
Without sacrificing the fantasy-like atmosphere created in the original work, the movie adopts interweaving images of different time periods using rear projection to successfully transform into images the seemingly impossible text of the original work, which wanders through various worlds of reality, imagination, memory, and video games.
